Couples & Family Therapy

Therapy can be a transformative space for couples and families because it is a place to learn and practice tools to build healthier, more harmonious relationships. Through open communication facilitated by a skilled therapist, couples can address conflicts, strengthen emotional bonds, and gain a deeper understanding of each other.

Family therapy provides a collaborative environment to navigate challenges, foster empathy, and promote positive dynamics. Therapists guide individuals in developing practical communication skills and provide conflict-resolution strategies. Ultimately, therapy becomes a catalyst for creating resilient and thriving relationships where partners and family members can navigate challenges together.

Depression & Anxiety

In the realm of depression and anxiety, therapy serves as a guiding light toward emotional well-being. Through a warm and empathetic therapeutic relationship, individuals can explore the roots of their depressive thoughts and anxious feelings. Therapists provide tools and coping strategies to manage symptoms, challenge negative thought patterns, and foster a more positive mindset.

The therapeutic process becomes a journey of self-discovery, offering a safe space for individuals to express their emotions and develop resilience. With personalized strategies and support, therapy empowers individuals to navigate the complexities of depression and anxiety, paving the way for lasting mental health.

Healing from the Past & Trauma

When confronting the negative impacts of the past and navigating trauma, therapy becomes a healing sanctuary. Therapists offer a compassionate space for individuals to share and process their experiences, guiding them toward understanding and acceptance. Through evidence-based techniques, therapists help individuals reprocess traumatic memories, reducing their emotional intensity. Therapy becomes a crucial tool in breaking free from the grip of past traumas, fostering resilience, and enabling individuals to move forward in a healthy and empowered way. It's a journey of healing that allows individuals to reclaim their narrative and shape a more positive future.

Life Transitions

Life transitions can feel overwhelming, such as (moving, graduating, changing careers, or retiring), and therapy offers invaluable support during these periods of change. Therapists assist individuals in navigating uncertainties, processing emotions, and developing coping strategies specific to the challenges of each transition. Through collaborative exploration, therapy transforms these transitions from sources of stress into opportunities for personal growth. It becomes a space to redefine goals, discover new possibilities, and embark on the next chapter with confidence and resilience.

What is

Parts Work

Therapy?

Many different methods address working with parts, including Internal Family Systems (IFS) by Richard Schwartz, Ego State Work by Watkins & Watkins, Gestalt Therapy by Perls, and Trauma Informed Stabilization Treatment Trauma  (TIST): Healing The Fragmented Selvesby Janina Fisher, Inner Relationship Focusing by Ann Weiser Cornell and Barbara McGavin, as a refinement of the Focusing process by Eugene Gendlin, and somatic attachment therapy, Healing the self.

What are the inner parts?

It is important to recognize that most of us have inner parts, and working with these parts allows us to uncover buried aspects of ourselves. We establish a deeper relationship with ourselves by connecting with our inner parts. Each part holds a combination of vulnerabilities and strengths, often representing different stages of our development, such as younger, child, or teenage versions. These parts carry a mix of happy moments, challenges, fear, and even trauma. One of the most common parts explored in therapy is the inner child. By connecting with this inner child and processing memories or experiences that have kept them stuck, we facilitate the resolution and integration of these memories into our adult selves.  Through this process, individuals can gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their experiences, leading to healing and personal growth in the present moment.

What is

EMDR?

It stands for

Eye

Movement

Desensitization and

Reprocessing

EMDR, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic approach that extends its compassionate embrace to individuals seeking relief from various emotional challenges. It is particularly beneficial for those grappling with trauma, anxiety, depression, and other distressing experiences that have left a lasting impact. The profound effectiveness of EMDR lies in its ability to facilitate the reprocessing of distressing memories, enabling individuals to integrate these experiences more healthily.

What is the experience of an EMDR session like?

Engaging in an EMDR session feels akin to a guided exploration of your emotions and memories, supported by a skilled and empathetic therapist. The experience is generally gentle, and individuals often report a sense of release and relief as they navigate through the reprocessing of challenging memories. The therapist guides the process, ensuring a safe and supportive environment, and clients typically find that the emotional charge associated with difficult experiences lessens throughout treatment.

During an EMDR session, clients might experience a range of emotions, from moments of intense emotion to a sense of calm and resolution. It's a collaborative journey where the therapist and client work together to navigate through the layers of the past, fostering healing and promoting a more adaptive response to challenging memories. The ultimate goal is to help individuals integrate these experiences into their narrative to foster resilience and emotional well-being at a pace and level they feel ready for.
